Nature magazine has highlighted our recent landmark work on the development of new high-entropy MXenes in a news article. Prof. Babak Anasori led a massive effort by M-STAR PIs Zahra Fakhraai, Yury Gogotsi, Aleksandra Vojvodic, and De-en Jiang among many other junior M-STAR members and other collaborators to understand the thermodynamic principles underlying the mixing and separation of metals in MXene layers that has culminated in a research article, “Order-to-disorder transition due to entropy in layered and 2D carbides” in Science. Congratulations are due to Dr. Brian Wyatt, postdoc and first author on the paper, who will shortly be starting a term as Maria Goeppert Mayer Fellow at Argonne National Laboratory, Lemont, IL.

Figuring out how to cram nine metals into an MXene was quite a challenge! You can also read the preprint for this work on the Chemrxiv.
